pencil or printer? Tags.

tags...i love them. I need your thoughts..

no matter what you are shopping for, the second thing that you look at is the tag. right? this little piece of paper holds a lot of vital information, so shouldn't it be impressive? I was in Anthropologie in New Orleans, LA this past week and noticed that several of their pieces had hand-written tags. there's something about a tag like that that just makes me smiley.  for one of my clients, I had a printing company print their logo on manila paper. because it was too expensive to have the real things printed, i had them print a red dot at the top and trim the top two edges at an angle. then, i had them punch a hole in the middle of the red dot to mimic real metal reinforcement. they turned out really nice..I've also been known to use vintage post cards, stamps, vintage papers and cool pens. how much do i love tags? i even have one on my resume! here it is:

I've taken several workshops on merchandising, and many of them have exerted that tags and signage should be uniform, and produced with computerized POS systems. However, I'm not a big fan...so, i need your help.

I'm working on a project, and I want the tags to be divine..so, which do you think present best? A nice computer produced tag or one like this one below that I found on etsy.com for only $5 for 24.

Leave a comment and tell me your thoughts!Do tags influence you too? Pencil or pen? Ideas....

  1. I would vote for a combination of those two. I like the handwritten look, but think the tag itself on the top is more special in appearance. The lower one is "ordinary," even if the text is hand written. But I know nothing about this....I'm a gardener....

  2. Will the text be the same on all the tags? If it's the same, you could get a rubber stamp made online that's really nice and stamp each tag. It's really cost effective; It's really nice and has a handmade quality too, but you don't have to kill your hand making them! Plus you can choose the color of the ink or switch it up for different occasions/holidays. Papersource.com has a lot of great tags, or you could go with a bureau and order samples.
I love paper! There are unending options! This website has some great inspiration on nicely printed things, I just love it: http://www.underconsideration.com/fpo/
